It is estimated that a typical user spends up to *35% of their time just looking for information and yet sharing information across a company, organisation or enterprise is easier than you think. Modern techniques and applications means that single versions of the truth can be made available - and findable - by any user.
The traditional way of storing information, in a series of often departmental silos, means that users have to hunt through a mass of libraries or folders to find what they want. And when they finally do find what they are looking for, the resultant files they produce again disappear into another black hole. It's small wonder that 50% of all intranet searches are abandoned.
The menu on the right shows examples of why it doesn't have to be this way. Wikis are a great way of storing data so everyone can find it, forums keep data, documents and conversations in one logical place and documents can be represented as links in as many locations as makes sense. Let's face it, a sales order could be in sales, admin, production, finance or even legal libraries, so why should users have to second-guess where someone has put them?
Once information is found, it can be updated and edited as a new version, so everyone can see exactly what has happened and when. If you want to make things easier in your organisation, call us now and we'd be happy to help.

* Knowledge workers spend from 15% to 35% of their time searching for information.
* Searchers are successful in finding what they seek 50% of the time or less, according to both Web search engines and our own surveys. An IDC study in 2001 ("Quantifying Enterprise Search," IDC, May 2002) found that only 21% of respondents said they found the information they needed 85% to100% of the time (see Figure 1).
* 40% of corporate users reported that they can not find the information they need to do their jobs on their intranets.
